On the other side of the river, one of the Two Girls has found a hidden gem, The Beltana Hotel.
Once a month one of the Two Girls joins some of her favourites for a 'girly get together'. The monthly dinner used to be held at another establishment on the Eastern Shore until one night exceptionally bad service drove us to find another venue.
After eating at the Beltana once it was agreed, the Beltana was now home of the girly get together forever more.
This place is stylish and rivals many Hobart CBD eateries.
There are tables inside and some very comfortable bench seating, along with an outside eating area with fantastic views of the river that can also be covered in.
The menu comes wrapped around your napkin, we totally love their style and it means, if you want, and this one girl wanted, you can take the menu home with you!
Here are just some of the many meals the girls have eaten over the past few months.
Aromatic Pressed Pork and Scallops - tender pressed pork flavoured with star anise and ginger, served wth seared scallops, cauliflower puree, crispy florets and sweet and sour vegetables $29
Seafood Plate - whole king prawn bucket, crumbed scallops, togarashi squid, beer battered whitefish, gourmande oysters, bad boy fries, real tartare and sweet and sour salad $35, seriously there was enough to feed 2 people on this plate!
Forest Mushroom and Paremesan Risotto - with fresha and dried forest mushrooms bound with cream paremesan and garlic with a green pea and pine nut salad $25
Parmesan and truffle fries $8, this one girl did facebook about the awesome fries one night - they were worth ordering and have been ordered on numerous occasions since!
White chocolate and Honeycomb Mousse - rich white chocolate mousse laced with crunchy honeycomb and scorched almonds with amaretto anglaise and meringue crumbs $12.
For this one girl, who doesn't like honey, the strong leatherwood honey in this dessert was an unexpected surprise but it didn't stop her from eating it all!
The lovely Jess, our regular and favourite waitress, is just one of the many friendly staff at the Beltana.
It is truly worth the trip over the river to experience what the Beltana has to offer.
