Tasmanian bushfire help

Tasmania’s community spirit is in full force after fire destroyed many homes, businesses and livestock in South East Tasmania over this weekend.

The official recorded temperature for Friday 4 January 2013 was 41.8 degrees, the hottest day in Tasmanian history since 4 January 1976, which was 40.8 degrees.  Although one photo on Facebook showed a thermometer reaching just over 47 degrees.

One of the Two Girls, has been at the Recovery Centre at Hobart's City Hall this afternoon, doing her bit to help, with one of work's head honchitas.  So far, generous Tasmanians have made over 200 offers of accommodation alone.

There have been Facebook pages created to share information on assistance needed, businesses and individuals donating much needed supplies, fundraisers and volunteers pitching in to help where they can.

The fires have been devastating to many Tasmanian families. It is heart warming to see how the 

Tasmanian community are pulling together to help.

There is a long road of recovery ahead for many Tasmanian communities.

Those families and communities affected by the bushfires are in the thoughts of the Two Girls.
