Crafting in the suburbs!
Crafty
people take note, LeAnn’s Unique Gift Boutique in little old Moonah is just
waiting for you to explore!
Leanne
is a keen furniture ‘reinventor’ and can turn that little unloved piece into a
stunning focal point you’ll want to have in your home.
You’ll
find many of LeAnn’s works for sale in the store as well as other unique
objects that she describes on her website as rustic and earthy decorating
design options.
This
girl totally loves the business card holder purchased from LeAnn’s.
Leanne
also teaches the art of furniture reinvention to eager crafters using the much
loved (in craft circles) Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and she is the only Tasmanian
stockist of this unique product. Chalk in name because of its velvety, matte
finish. Not to be mistaken with chalk board paint!
Leanne
tells me the paint is really versatile. Annie Sloan developed it over 20 years
ago so she had one type of paint that would meet all her needs. Use it indoors,
outdoors, on just about any surface (wood, metal, matt plastic and terracotta
to name a few), walls, ceilings and even floors.
This
Girls green thumb mother has been using it to paint her old terracotta and plastic
pots!
Annie
Sloan is huge in the craft world and has numerous books to her name along with
a magazine. She even has her own YouTube channel!
The
paint is absolutely odourless and is eco-friendly. When I attended the class
there were numerous tins open and not even the faintest paint odour around.
Classes
are held on a Saturday in LeAnn’s store and go for 3 hours. The classes are kept small so that you
have the chance to learn one on one with LeAnn. The ladies attending the class
I visited said they’d had a great time and even bought some handles to turn
their sample blocks into a groovy coat rack!
This
quaint little shop is just another little enclave of the Hobart community connecting
people over a common interest. The
Two Girls have blogged previously about Flamenco and papercraft in the northern
suburbs.
LeAnn's Unique Gift Boutique is at Shop 9, 57A Hopkins Street, Moonah.
Check out the website for more info and online shopping and they also have a Facebook page.
