Me Wah
a Winner
Me Wah is one of Hobart’s best restaurants, known for its fine food,
wines and service. Last night it won Savour Australia’s Restaurant of the Year (Tasmania)
and Best Asian Restaurant (Victoria and Tasmania).
Me Wah is exceptional dining with an extensive menu and attention to
detail. Crisp white table clothes, glasses never neglected, unobtrusive
attention. This Girl’s favourites include their delicious Peking Duck wrapped
in pancake, the best in Hobart; the assorted dumplings of prawn and bamboo,
blue eye and scallop; and Mountain Buddha Chicken with garlic and ginger vinegar
dressing. They are renowned for their extensive
wine list. A very serious business. I wouldn’t know, I’m fixated with their excellent cocktails.

They also excel in Yum Cha, which is ripe for a special celebration and
it’s perfect for sharing with loved ones and friends. It generates its own
conversation, spinning the lazy Susan, negotiating the remaining dumpling,
comparing favourites. This Girl adores the Chinese
pork bun, a fluffy white bread filled barbeque pork and steamed.
Their professional team is led by Maître de Stephen Tso, a man who
excels at his role and who has been nominated a number of times for best in the
country by Gourmet Traveller magazine.
They say that Me Wah is a Chinese phrase translating to ‘exquisite
setting’.
Oh yes it is.
Congratulations to Tasmania’s Me Wah Restaurant.
